Heinrich Klaasen has pulled out of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) season in the West Indies. The South African wicketkeeper-batter was slated to represent the Saint Lucia Kings franchise.

Regardless, the franchise has already roped in New Zealand stumper Tim Seifert as Klaasen’s replacement for the tournament. As per reports, the 33-year-old South African cricketer withdrew his name from the CPL 2024 season owing to a family emergency.

Dashing wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen will not be taking part for the Saint Lucia Kings franchise in the upcoming CPL 2024 season citing personal reasons. The revelation came to the fore on Wednesday, August 28, i.e., just a day prior to the launch of the six-team event in Antigua. The Saint Lucia Kings had roped in Klaasen back in June this year before CPL 2024 player draft.

Tim Seifert Replaces Heinrich Klaasen

The franchise has now signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert as Klaasen’s replacement. Seifert, a veteran of over 200 T20 matches, recently played the Global T20 Canada 2024 season in Canada for the Montreal Tigers. He holds a T20 strike-rate of an astonishing 130.12.

Heinrich Klaasen, meanwhile, previously took part in a CPL season back in 2022 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The lanky stumper recently played seven matches for the Seattle Orcas in the MLC 2024 season in USA, where he managed to tally just 97 runs in six innings at a meagre batting average of 16.16.

Apart from Klaasen, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza was another prominent name to have pulled out of the CPL 2024 season, albeit due to an injury.

The CPL 2024 is scheduled to start on August 29 with a match between Antigua & Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
