  • He Is Such A Natural And Easy Leader Watson Applauds Rohit Sharmas Leadership Skills

"He is such a natural and easy leader" - Watson applauds Rohit Sharma's leadership skills

Former Australia cricketer Shane Watson spoke at length about Rohit Sharma's leadership qualities and how the India skipper does not let the pressure reflect on his face.

Rohit recently became an all-format captain of the Indian team and has tough assignments ahead of himself in the form of the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and World Test Championship. The 34-year-old has done wonders for his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians and is shaping up well in the first few months as the captain of the national side.

Speaking on the 'ICC Review', Watson lauded Rohit's ability to soak the pressure in tough situations, as he has often shown while captaining in the IPL.

"He is such a natural and easy leader. I have watched him very closely for the Mumbai Indians and nothing really seems to faze him. He is very quietly spoken. Goes about his work incredibly well. He has had a lot of experience of high-pressure situations of captaining an IPL team and with the Mumbai Indians there is always such high expectations off them," Watson said on the 'ICC Review'.

Further in the interaction, the Aussie heaped praises on Rohit's batting abilities and called him an 'elegant' batter. "I love watching Rohit bat, he is an elegant batter and he brings that to his captaincy," the 40-year old added.

Meanwhile, Watson also opined on MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli's leadership styles.

"MS Dhoni has got ice running through his veins, his ability to take the pressure out of a team environment, he trusts his players, he makes sure everyone has faith in their abilities. He knows what works for himself and the people around him. He trusts his instincts on the field, he trusts that players will do their research and do what is needed on the field."

"Virat as a leader has done incredible things, the way he has been able to push players, he has got such high expectation from himself and he brings that to every game he plays. For me, I believe Virat is superhuman, he knows how to push players around him. Virat is an incredibly good guy, he is a well-balanced character off the field, the knowledge he has is fascinating. It was a great experience for me to work with Virat at RCB," the former RCB all-rounder mentioned.

Since becoming India's full-time skipper, Rohit is yet to lose a match. He will now be seen marshalling his troops in the upcoming Sri Lanka T20I series.
