India’s victory over Australia in the semifinals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was a moment of pure joy. After the tough loss to Australia in the 2023 World Cup final, it was a chance for India to knock out their rivals and advance to the final.
India are currently in Dubai, getting ready for the Champions Trophy 2025 final on March 9. So far, the Men in Blue have been unbeaten in the tournament. In the semifinal against Aussies, they secured a four-wicket win, with India chasing down Australia’s target of 264 runs.
Hardik Pandya Opens Up on Smiling After Getting Out
Virat Kohli played an important knock, scoring 84 runs. Then, Hardik Pandya came in and made a quick impact, scoring 28 off 24 balls. His innings included three sixes and a boundary, two of which were consecutive sixes off Adam Zampa. But after hitting a boundary in the 48th over, Hardik was dismissed when Glenn Maxwell took a catch, leaving India at 259 runs in the chase.
What caught everyone’s attention was Hardik’s smile as he walked back to the dressing room after getting out.
In a video shared by BCCI, Axar Patel asked Hardik why he was smiling. Hardik explained that he knew the dressing room would be tense, and that’s why he couldn’t help but smile.
He said, "I knew I could hit two sixes whenever I wanted. But I didn’t think about what would happen next or what the mood would be inside. I knew everyone would be a bit tense, so I was laughing a little to myself."
Now, India are all set to face New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on March 9. The two teams had already met in the tournament’s group stage, where India defeated New Zealand by 44 runs.
