Rohit Sharma secured yet another batting failure, this time falling for just eight against New Zealand in the decisive innings of the Pune Test. In pursuit of 359 runs, the Indian captain was entrapped by visiting spinner Mitchell Santner in just the sixth over of the innings.

Earlier in the match, the legendary opener was knocked over for a sluggish nine-ball duck by Tim Southee. Sharma’s twin failures in the match means that the Indian skipper has now registered six single-digit scores in Test cricket in his past eight batting appearances for Team India.

Mere moments after Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Mitchell Santner on the third morning of the Pune Test, a slew of Indian cricket fans flocked to X and shared hilarious memes at the expense of the legendary opening batter.

While some fans berated Sharma for his failed attempts at aggressive batting, others called for his complete retirement from Test cricket. Here is a look at some of the hilarious memes shared by fans on the microblogging site:

Back in September, Rohit Sharma managed to tally just 42 runs across all four innings of India’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. Maintaining a dismal batting average of 10.50, Sharma scored 23 of them in a single innings in Kanpur.

Meanwhile, earlier on Day 3 of the Pune Test against New Zealand, Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin induced a dramatic lower-order batting collapse within the visitor’s line-up. At 231-5, Ashwin (2-97) and Jadeja (3-72) enveloped New Zealand’s second innings for just 255 to set Team India a 359-run target for levelling the three-match Test series.
