Furious Smriti Mandhana smoulders with Rajasthan players after run-out

India batter Smriti Mandhana became enraged as a controversial run-out led to her dismissal in the Senior Women's T20 League match between Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

In the run-chase of 103 runs, Smriti Mandhana and SS Shinde helped Maharashtra cruise to the target. However, a speed breaker came along in the eighth over when a run-out by bowler KP Choudhary ended the 46-run partnership between the duo.

Mandhana, who was at the non-striker's end, was found out of the popping crease as Choudhary took advantage of the situation and removed the bails, dismissing the southpaw for 26.

Although Rajasthan players seemed convinced, the decision was sent upstairs, after which the third umpire gave the verdict in favour of the bowler.

Madhana was visibly miffed and exchanged words with the opposition players as the 25-year-old walked back to the dressing room.

Mankading, which now comes under run-out Law, has been a hot potato ever since it originated. So, for the obvious reasons, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) changed Law 41 (Mankad) to Law 38 (Run-out).

"Law 41.16 – running out the non-striker – has been moved from Law 41 (Unfair Play) to Law 38 (Run-out). The wording of the Law remains the same," the MCC informed about the rule change in a media statement.

Even after Mandhana's wicket, Maharashtra went on to chase the paltry target comfortably. SS Shinde scored a 30-run knock in a low-scoring affair, while TS Hasabnis remained unbeaten, smashing 39 runs off 34 deliveries.
