IPL 2022 | Tom Moody lauds Jansen, Natarajan for their demolition job against RCB

Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody has heaped high praise on his fast bowling attack led by Marco Jansen and T Natarajan following their demolition job against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday evening.

Jansen and Natarajan combined to wipe off RCB's top-order and the lower-order to knock them for over 68; a total that their batters gunned down with ease.

Jansen set the tone with a brilliant first over when he got the ball to move both ways. The left-arm lanky pacer knocked over Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat within a space of 5 deliveries, leaving RCB gasping for breath.

He ultimately finished with figures of 3/25 in four overs.

Speaking to the media following a nine-wicket win, Moody lauded Jansen for exploiting the conditions to the hilt. However, he stopped short of declaring it as the over of the IPL.

"Superb first over, we took top wickets. In the powerplay, RCB struggled to recover from the first over. Marco Jansen bowled a super first over; whether it was the best over so far in the IPL, I don't know. He took full advantage of his early breakthrough and put pressure on the opposition. It was a great performance from him."

He added, "Jansen was bowling great because the ball was swinging, and he was encouraged to pitch the ball up and take advantage of that movement early on, which he did. Another thing about being the tall bowler is that he will get a little more bounce."

While Jansen was lethal upfront, Natarajan backed it up with another stellar show at the death as he wiped off the tail with ease to finish with figures of 3/10 in 4.

On Natarajan, Moody said, "Natarajan understands his role very clearly. He is one of the best at doing that, and he is always under pressure with the ball because he has to ball those tight overs, generally at the backhand of play when the team look to go after you. So it's great to see him back and playing fully fit," he added.

The target of 69 was gunned down with ease thanks to Abhishek Sharma's whirlwind 28-ball 47, giving SRH their 5th consecutive win of the season.
