Meanwhile, the stage is set for a landmark subcontinental spectacle as India and Sri Lanka prepare to co-host the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. This historic joint venture marks the first time the tournament will be shared across these two passionate cricketing nations.

Building on the expanded 20-team format successfully debuted in 2024, the road to 2026 is already well underway through intense regional qualifiers. Hosts, India and Sri Lanka automatically claim the first two berths, joined by the 10 teams who qualified via the 2024 Super Eight stage or T20I rankings.

The 2026 tournament itself will mirror the 2024 structure of 55 matches played across four initial groups of five, progressing to two Super Eight groups, followed by semi-finals and a final.
