In a remarkable feat of efficiency, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has silenced sceptics by completing the massive renovation and modernization of Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium days ahead of its February 12 deadline. The stadium, now gleaming with state-of-the-art facilities, is hosting its grand inauguration ceremony.

The ceremony which was slated to happen on Friday, February 7, is drawing unprecedented crowds eager to witness the newest installations and high-end technical facilities that have been provided for the viewers.

Fans Filling The Stands Ahead Of Inaugural Ceremony

Videos circulating widely on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) show hundreds of cricket enthusiasts thronging the newly installed seats of Gaddafi Stadium hours before the ceremony began. 

The clips capture a sea of fans filling the empty seats of Gaddafi stadium ahead of the ceremony reflecting the public’s excitement for the stadium’s rebirth.

The PCB organized a star-studded ceremony to mark the occasion, with entry free for all spectators, no tickets or passes required. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will inaugurate the stadium, joined by cricket legends, politicians, and celebrities. 

The event which is scheduled to start at 6 PM IST, will feature electrifying performances by renowned artists, including Ali Zafar, Aima Baig, and folk sensation Arif Lohar.

Gaddafi Stadium Gets Complete Upgrade

The revamped Gaddafi Stadium boasts several cutting-edge enhancements including expanded seating capacity, premium hospitality boxes with panoramic views, and advanced LED floodlights and high-definition electronic scoreboards.

The inauguration also serves as a dress rehearsal for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where Gaddafi Stadium will host key matches, including a semi-final. Its readiness will be tested immediately, as Pakistan takes on New Zealand in a tri-series opener on February 8, followed by a clash with South Africa.
