Yorkshire have drafted veteran Namibia all-rounder David Wiese in the team ahead of the T20 Blast 2023. Wiese, who has played international cricket for South Africa and Namibia, has a plethora of experience in the shortest format, having participated in numerous T20 leagues around the world.

Yorkshire Managing director and former England pacer Darren Gough hailed Wiese for his incredible all-round attributes. Addressing Wiese a match-winner, Gough expressed his delight at having him in the squad and expected him to help the club reach new heights.

Here's what Gough stated

"I am thrilled that we have got David over the line so early. His desire to constantly improve his game is one of the reasons why he has been so successful around the world."

In his fourteen-year-long T20 career, Wiese has amassed 3666 runs at a blistering strike rate of 144.27. Additionally, he has scalped 251 wickets with his gentle medium pace. The 37-year-old has also represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League with decent success.

Meanwhile, fellow all-rounder Yash Vagadia, 18, has signed a rookie contract with the county. The Durham University student will join up with the squad from 1 June.
