Former Indian player Rumeli Dhar appointed Baroda's senior women's team bowling coach

The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has announced the appointment of former Indian cricketer Rumeli Dhar as the bowling coach of their senior women's team.

Dhar, who announced her retirement from international cricket, having played for India between 2003 and 2018, is a BCCI Level 2 certified coach with four years of experience.

Former Mumbai player and current CEO, BCA Shishir Hattangadi, welcomed Dhar and wished her a long-lasting association with the state.

"BCA welcomes Ms. Rumeli Dhar on board. Her vast international experience will add great value to Baroda Women's Cricket. We wish her the very best for her upcoming innings with the BCA and look forward to taking this association further," Hattangadi said.

A look at Dhar’s impressive 15-year career

Dhar has played a total of 100 international matches for India; 78 ODIs, 18 T20Is, and 4 Tests. She has amassed 1,328 runs and taken 84 wickets across her 15-year career.

The 38-year-old has represented states like Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Assam in domestic cricket. She has also played for the Indian Railways and Asia Women XI.

When announcing her retirement, Dhar made it clear that she would continue to be associated with the sport and contribute in any way possible.

"Each match in this prolonged career taught me a lesson that will help in my second innings. Like all journeys, mine will end as a cricketer today, but I promise to be associated with the sport and help nurture young talents in the country, giving back to the game in every way possible," she stated in her announcement.

Dhar was part of the Indian team that finished second in the ICC 2005 Women's 50-overs World Cup.

She was also the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2009 ICC Women's T20 WC edition.
