BCCI announces T20I squad for WI tour: Virat Kohli sidelined, Ravi Ashwin recalled

The national side has a busy schedule coming ahead as they look to wrap their tour of England with the last two ODIs to act as the final chapters of the story.

India have been a good side when it comes to the white-ball format, and they will look to continue their dominance as they tour West Indies for 3 ODIs and 5 T20I starting 22nd July.

BCCI has announced a list of names that will be a part of the national side for the shortest format of the game. However, the board has decided to rest some of their key players for the tour, considering the upcoming World Cup.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been excluded from the squad, with the news of his groin injury adding a new headache for the national selectors.

Star bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also been rested for the tour after being part of the side for a hectic English campaign.

Meanwhile, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has found a way back to the Blues. Ashwin, who last played a limited-over game back in November 2021, has found his way back into the squad.

Rahul and Kuldeep set to make a return to the team

KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav, who were initially a part of India’s squad against South Africa, have been renamed into the team. However, their participation is still under check, with both players currently trying to make a comeback after suffering from their respective injuries.

The tour of the West Indies is bound to be an exciting clash as both sides hold some severe firepower. India will hope to continue from right where they left off when the Caribbean side toured India in February.
