Dundee erupted in scenes of unbridled joy as Nepal snatched a heart-stopping, one-wicket victory over Scotland on the very last delivery, delivering a massive boost to the Cricket World Cup League 2 and their own 2027 World Cup qualification hopes.

Fans Break Into The Field After Nepal Clinch Thriller

Chasing Scotland's imposing 296, Nepal needed a single from the final ball with No. 11 Rijan Dhakal on strike against spinner Mark Watt.

Walking in at number 9 with Nepal reeling at 192/7 in the 39th over, Karan KC played a breathtaking, match-defining innings. He smashed an unbeaten 65 runs from just 41 balls, including four towering sixes. 

His crucial 60-run partnership with Gulsan Jha (46th over) and a nerve-wracking 38-run stand with Sandeep Lamichhane for the ninth wicket brought Nepal to the brink. Even after Lamichhane fell to the first ball of the final over, Karan coolly scored two twos before the fateful wide sealed the historic win.

Nepal Creates History With Scotland Victory

Nepal's successful pursuit of 297 marks their highest-ever run chase in ODI history. This monumental victory against the hosts also lifted them off the bottom of the crucial Cricket World Cup League 2 table as both nations battle for a spot in the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.

Nepal's reply began strongly with a 72-run opening stand between Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh. After a minor stumble (78/2), skipper Rohit Paudel and Bhim Sarki steadied the ship with a vital 74-run partnership for the third wicket, laying the groundwork for the dramatic lower-order rescue act led by Karan KC.

The scenes at Dundee were pure pandemonium as Nepal's players mobbed Karan KC, the undisputed hero. This pulsating encounter sets the stage perfectly for the tri-series continuation, with Nepal set to face the Netherlands at the same venue on June 4th. The race for World Cup qualification just got even hotter.
