Faf du Plessis' All Set To Captain Texas Super Kings

On Friday, the Texas Super Kings franchise made an announcement stating that Faf du Plessis will be leading the team in the upcoming Major Cricket League (MLC) 2023. The franchise also revealed that Stephen Fleming, the former New Zealand captain, will serve as the coach for the team. Fleming is currently associated with the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings and is also involved with SA20. 

The appointment of du Plessis as the skipper was shared on the franchise's official Twitter account.


The Texas Super Kings have a strong lineup consisting of international players such as Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Ambati Rayudu, and David Miller. Faf du Plessis, the newly appointed leader of the team, will now join them. 

This will mark a reunion for Rayudu, Santner, and Conway, as they were previously part of the Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, that emerged as champions in the IPL 2023 season.

In addition to the aforementioned players, the Dallas-based team, Texas Super Kings, will also include Dwayne Bravo as a player. Bravo, who currently serves as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings, will contribute his skills as a player in the MLC. Assisting coach Stephen Fleming, the team will have Eric Simmons and Albie Morkel as part of the coaching staff.

The MLC 2023 is set to be a six-team tournament, scheduled to be held from July 14th to July 31st. The matches will be played in Dallas, Texas, providing an exciting cricketing spectacle for fans in the region.
