Mumbai Indians (MI) recorded their sixth loss as Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated them by a margin of 10 runs.

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, Mumbai Indians conceded 257 runs in 20 overs to Delhi Capitals, with Jake Fraser-McGurk leading the charge alongside other batsmen.

Despite a faltering start, Mumbai Indians' Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, and Tim David displayed resilience, but ultimately fell short by a narrow margin of 10 runs.

MI chances to qualify for playoffs

With their sixth loss of the season, Mumbai Indians face an uphill battle to secure a spot in the playoffs. Here's a breakdown of how MI can qualify for the playoffs from this stage.

Mumbai Indians have 5 remaining games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH),  Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all of which are contending for playoffs and currently in the top 4 of the table. If MI win all 5 games, they'll secure 8 wins and likely qualify for the playoffs.

However, if MI lose just one game, their fate will be out of their hands, relying on other teams' results. In this scenario, MI would need to win the remaining four games with a high run rate, as net run rate will also be a determining factor.

Of the 5 remaining games, Mumbai will play 3 at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium. The batting-friendly tracks of Wankhede Stadium pose a challenge for Mumbai's bowling lineup, especially against in-form teams like KKR, LSG and SRH are batting-wise.

The away games at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium and Kolkata's Eden Gardens present further challenges, with Eden Gardens known for its batting paradise and Ekana's slower pitch compared to both Eden Gardens and Wankhede.

Mumbai Indians' chances of qualification also depend on the remaining games of Delhi Capitals (DC), Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Delhi Capitals have 5 wins in 10 games, Gujarat Titans have 4 wins out of 9 games, while CSK have 4 wins in 8 games. The outcomes of these teams' matches will play a significant role in determining MI's playoff chances.
