Mumbai Indians (MI) wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan, faced a 10% fine of his match fees due to a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). The match referee for the game was Mr. Vengalil Narayan Kutty.

Kishan's Fine for Code of Conduct Breach

The incident occurred during Match 43 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Kishan admitted to the offense, accepting the Match Referee's decision as final and binding. Kishan had gotten out just 20 (14) while the Mumbai Indians were trying to chase 258 runs and lost the match by 10 runs.

Earlier in the match, DC set their highest IPL total, adding to the intensity of the game.

Kishan was charged with a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. This article encompasses actions outside the norm of cricket, including damaging advertising boards, boundary fences, and other fixtures, as well as abuse of cricket equipment during matches.

Understanding The Offence

While the specifics of Kishan's offense were not disclosed by IPL organizers, it is evident that it involved a violation of Article 2.2. The penalty serves as a reminder to players to uphold the integrity of the game and adhere to conduct standards set by the league.

Ishan Kishan's fine underscores the importance of maintaining discipline and respect for the rules both on and off the field in the IPL.
