In a massive development, it has been understood that the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have finalised the schedule of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to be played in India in the Winter. OneCricket understands that the big announcement will be made either on Friday or Saturday during the course of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 being played between India and Australia at The Oval.

The BCCI has already mapped the schedule, and the board's bosses - Roger Binny and Jay Shah, attending the Ultimate Test in London, have handed over the blueprint to the ICC, who will make the official announcement.

As per a source close to the Indian board, World Cup's schedule will be made public by June 10, and the tournament will be run between October 5 and November 19.

As reported last month by OneCricket, BCCI's dignitaries met to discuss a couple of agendas, one of which was the global event schedule where ten nations would be playing.

Apart from the host nations and the reigning champions, England - Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have already qualified for the tournament. However, the top teams after the ICC Qualifiers will fill the remaining spots.

It has also been understood that the ten-nation World Cup will be hosted across 12 venues, while the two biggest matches of the tournament - India versus Pakistan match and the finale - will be contested at the State of Art Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

However, there are still some gloomy clouds over Pakistan's participation, which has been a reason behind the schedule not being announced till now.

Nevertheless, the upcoming tournament will be India's first 50-over showpiece event since the 2011 edition of the World Cup, in which they lifted the silverware after 28 years. Notably, the Asian nation hosted the 2016 and 2021 T20 World Cups, but the latter was contested in UAE and Oman due to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide.
