Former English skipper Eoin Morgan is quite convinced about England's prospects in the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia despite their poor run of form since his retirement. The team haven't performed well in the recent past, losing three consecutive series under the newly appointed captain-coach duo of Jos Buttler & Matthew Mott.

The 2019 World Cup-winning skipper also pointed out that his beginning as a captain in the International arena was worse than how the current English side is playing. Pointing out that they have still managed to win matches.

While backing the team, Morgan said things will change once the transition period is over.

Morgan retired from International cricket in June after a dip in his batting form, which led to the England & Wales Cricket Board appointing Buttler as his successor in white-ball cricket. However, Morgan will turn up to lead London Spirit in the second season of The Hundred.

What Morgan said about his team's chances

"I have 100 percent faith that things will turn around again.

"There's a transition regardless, even if you're the best side in the world. They are still winning games. When I first started, we couldn't win a game, Jos alluded to it the other day: our strength has always been our batting.

"The team has been built around that we bat to number nine. But there's no good having nine guys who can bat if you're not playing with intent.

"The batting needs to work itself out and needs to show more purpose, and then you can get back to Adil (Rashid) bowling well and building the bowling unit around who's fit and having a varied attack."
