  • Englands Tash Farrant Suffers Stress Fracture Ruled Out Of Home Season

England’s Tash Farrant suffers stress fracture; ruled out of home season

England seamer Tash Farrant has suffered a lumbar spine stress fracture which has ruled her out for six months.

Farrant picked up the injury while playing on duty with club-side South East Stars and is set to be ruled out for up to six months. The England And Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the extent of the injury in a release.

"England and South East Stars bowler Tash Farrant has suffered a lumbar spine stress fracture," the ECB said in a statement.

"The left-arm seamer, who was part of the squad that reached the final of the ICC Women's World Cup in New Zealand in April, experienced discomfort after playing in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, and subsequent scans displayed the fracture. Farrant is set to be out for around six months, possibly returning slightly earlier to regional cricket as a batter.

"She will be unavailable for England Women's internationals and The Hundred. The medical teams at England and South East Stars will work together on her rehabilitation," added ECB's official release.

The injury means that she'll be unavailable for all of England's international games this summer, including England's summer Tests against South Africa and India. She'll also be missing the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and The Hundred 2022, where she was again due to play for Oval Invincibles.

Farrant has played six ODIs and 18 T20s for the England women's team since her debut at 17.
