ENG vs SA| This series will help us find our best combination for the WC: Buttler ahead of T20Is

As we know, this summer hasn't been the best one for England in terms of their success in white-ball cricket.

First, the Three Lions were handed a 2-1 defeat by the visiting Indians in both white-ball formats, following which they earned a hard-fought draw in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

In the aftermath of the abandoned third ODI against South Africa, England captain Jos Buttler said that the upcoming T20I series against the visitors would aid England's preparations for the world cup starting this October in Australia.

Buttler agreed that the Englishmen haven't lived up to their potential in white-ball cricket this summer and said that this series would give them the opportunity to gear up for the showpiece event with full intensity.

“It would be great to get out there and play some of our best cricket, which we have been short on so far. Just that level of intensity, knowing there's a World Cup around the corner, guys trying to put themselves forward for a starting XI in a WC, which is exciting,” Buttler said.

Elaborating on the matter, the swashbuckling keeper-batter stressed that the English think-tank plans to expose the players to perform their respective roles in given situations in this series.

As the Taunton-born put it, this move will help them immensely in constructing their first-choice playing eleven ahead of the World Cup.

These are the games we want to be working towards, finding out the best combinations, having in mind Australian conditions,” Buttler said

“We might not get those in these next few games, but it's important to have in the back of your mind, exposing people to certain situations or giving opportunities in certain areas which may not look right on the day but in three months' time it may have a bearing,” the 31-year-old concluded.
