WI vs IND 2022 | Shai Hope scales new heights in ODIs despite defeat

Dynamic West Indies batter Shai Hope clubbed an imperial 115 against India in the second ODI at the Queen’s Park Oval. The match also marked the 100th ODI of his career, and he became only the 10th men’s cricketer in the world to chart a century on their 100th ODI.

The wicketkeeper-batsman piled up 115 off 135 balls at the top of the order for West Indies. The cricketer struck eight boundaries and three sixes and was dismissed by Shardul Thakur in the penultimate over of his side’s innings.

Hope now holds the record of scoring most ODI centuries in the first 45 innings as an opener. Out of the 13 tons he has recorded in ODI cricket, 11 of them have come while facing the new-ball for West Indies.

Jonny Bairstow is the next opening batsman on the list with nine tons in his first 45 innings. Former cricketers and batting legends Sachin Tendulkar, Mark Waugh and Hashim Amla are next on the list with eight hundreds each.
