ENG vs NZ | England skipper Ben Stokes urges teammates to play entertaining cricket in the last Test

The new era of England's red-ball cricket under coach Brendon McCullum and skipper Ben Stokes started with a bang after the Three Lions gained an unassailable 2-0 lead over New Zealand in the ongoing 3-match Test series.

England have demonstrated fearless, exciting, and box-office cricket so far, evident in their outrageous chase in the Trent Bridge Test, spearheaded by Jonny Bairstow and Stokes.

Ahead of the third and final Test at Leeds on Friday, Stokes has urged his teammates to come out and entertain the audience as they did at Lords and Nottingham.

Stokes said: "We want to walk away from the series winning three-nil because it does sound better to 2-1. But, as I said upstairs to the lads before we started training today, the result will look after itself this week. Let's carry on what we've been doing the last two weeks and try and think that we're in the entertainment business not the sporting business this week".

The New Zealand-born cricketer outlined the blockbuster 299-run chase in the second Test.

"What you saw last week on that day five is exactly what it was. For us, it was a matter of just chasing the runs down, not how many overs there were. At not one stage did we look at that. I think it was pretty clear by the fact we knocked them off in 16 overs in the last session. Me and Jonny just decided that was a time to put as much pressure back on them as we possibly could. And that's what we're doing this week," he added.

The hosts have made just one change to their playing XI from the last Test, replacing the injured James Anderson with debutant Jamie Overton.

The third-highest wicket-taker in Tests will miss out due to an ankle injury he suffered during the last match. However, the team management is confident that Anderson will recover in time for the one-off Test against India starting July 1st.
