Washington Sundar signs up with Lancashire CCC

India and Tamil Nadu spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has signed up with the Lancashire Cricket Club for the upcoming 50-over games and county championship fixtures of the ongoing season.

Lancashire confirmed the development on Wednesday (June 22nd), stating that the club is 'delighted' with the acquisition of Washington.

He will link up with his new teammates at Old Trafford next month.

The club released a statement: "Lancashire Cricket is delighted to confirm the signing of Indian international, Washington Sundar. Following the approval of his UK visa, Washington will arrive in the country and link up with his new teammates at Emirates Old Trafford next month".

Washington shared his thoughts on the development, stating that he is extremely excited to play county cricket for the first time with a renowned club like Lancashire. The all-rounder further added that playing in English conditions will do him a world of good, and he 'can't wait to play at the iconic Emirates Old Trafford.

"I am extremely excited to play county cricket for the first time with Lancashire Cricket. To play in English conditions will be a great experience for me, and I can't wait to play at Emirates Old Trafford," said Washington.

He also thanked Lancashire Cricket and the BCCI for giving him an opportunity to feature in the county championship.

"I would like to thank both Lancashire Cricket and the BCCI for allowing this opportunity to happen, and I'm looking forward to joining up with the squad next month."

The county stint is crucial for Washington, who has struggled with multiple injuries in the past 12-15 months. He was a part of the Indian squad that travelled to the UK last summer but was eventually ruled out after sustaining an injury during a practice game ahead of the five-match Test series.

Sundar was recently featured for SRH in the IPL but was ruled out midway through the season after sustaining a finger injury.

Meanwhile, Lancashire is currently placed 3rd in the points table, and they will resume their county championship campaign against Gloucestershire from June 26th.
