ENG vs IND | Zaheer Khan expects an ultra-aggressive approach from Rishabh Pant on day four

The legendary Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has predicted a counter-attacking approach from Rishabh Pant ahead of the fourth day of the ongoing Test match between India and England in Edgbaston.

Rishabh Pant, who rescued India from a critical position by hammering a 111-ball-146, remained unbeaten on 30 off 46 balls at stumps on day three. This approach by the southpaw was termed conservative, considering his stature as a dynamic Test batsman.

Khan opined that Rishabh controlled his aggression on the third day as India, ideally, wouldn't have liked to lose another wicket before the closure of the day's play. However, applauding Pant's nonchalant flick shots, Khan said that he expects the Indian keeper-batter to adopt a more aggressive approach in his batting on the fourth day.

"I am sure Pant will bat a little more aggressively (on Day 4). On Sunday, he reined himself in since stumps were approaching and India wanted to end the day on a positive note. He did play some good flick shots when the ball was in his arc," Zaheer said.

Continuing, Khan termed the last session of the third day as fascinating as the batters and bowlers had intriguing contests throughout it. The 2011 World Cup winner also heaped praises on the English bowlers for keeping things tight and reckoned both parties were equally dominant in the post-tea session.

"According to me, the last session of play on Day 3 was a shared one. I really liked Ben Stokes' spell. (James) Anderson also bowled really well, as did (Stuart) Broad and (Matthew) Potts. Runs were scored and too many wickets did not fall. But it was a really exciting session of Test cricket. There was some good batting and bowling as well," Zaheer stressed.

Khan, who represented India in 309 international matches, advised the visitors to bat normally, without thinking of the time left in this Test match.

Leading by 257 runs with seven wickets in hand, India are in a commanding position in this Test match. However, the home side's comeback can't entirely be ruled out, considering the sheer quality they have in their bowling line-up.
