Ed Barnard joins Warwickshire for a three year deal

The experienced all-rounder Ed Barnard will end the 15-year association with Worcestershire after the 2022 domestic season. 

He has penned a 3-year-deal with the Warwickshire County Club, which will start from the 2023 season. 

Barnard's contract was due to expire at the end of this year, and the club had reportedly offered him a new contract, but the all-rounder has opted for a different path.

Barnard made his domestic debut across all formats in the 2015 season and, since then, has been an essential member of the Worcs team. 

In the ongoing County Championship season, the 26-year-old is the team's leading run-scorer and the leading wicket-taker. He has slammed 665 runs at an average of 66.50 and has 19 wickets in eight matches. In this pursuit, he also hit his highest first-class score of 163* against Nottinghamshire. 

He was one of the critical members of the team in the 2018 T20 Blast title victory, with the contribution of 115 runs and 12 wickets. 

In the 2017 edition of the County Championship Two, Barnard scored 580 runs, picked 47 wickets, and helped the team get promoted to Division One. 

The talented all-rounder expressed his excitement to join Warwickshire and hoped to win trophies for the team. He also thanked Worcestershire for providing him opportunities in his younger days, which helped him develop his game. 

"My ambition is to play at the highest level," said Barnard. "I am determined to win trophies with the Bears, play franchise cricket and be selected for England,"
