Baroda Cricket Association appoints Yusuf Pathan as mentor for upcoming season

The former Indian allrounder Yusuf Pathan has been appointed as the mentor by the Baroda cricket association. This will mark Yusuf's debut in the coaching role post his international retirement.

Yusuf, who has represented India in 79 international matches, will monitor the training process of the junior as well as senior cricketers, thereby helping them finetune their cricketing skills.

The CEO of the Baroda cricket association (BCA), Mr Shishir Hattangadi, revealed that the decision to recruit Yusuf as the body's apex council took the mentor on Friday. He also informed that the former world cup winner, who won't be charging any fee from BCA for his service, will have a one-year stint with the association, and his performance will be evaluated in the next season.

"The decision to rope in Yusuf was taken by the BCA apex council on Friday. His initial contract will be for one year and will be reviewed in the next season. Yusuf won't be charging any fee from the association," Hattangadi said.

To note, the Pathan brothers have been immensely helping the promising young cricketers of the country, especially the unprivileged ones, through the Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP). The academy has 31 centres in India, which work tirelessly to identify the budding cricketers and provide them with the required facilities to fulfil their dreams.
