Durban Super Giants' Retained and Pre-Signed Players' Full List For SA20 2024

The SA20 franchises revealed the names of players from their eventual 19-member squad as the auction for the next edition of the tournament nears.

Included among the 19 cricketers, a team must have a minimum of 10 South African players and are allowed to rope in a maximum of seven internationals. Continuing from the previous season, there will be a Wildcard pick which the sides would have to disclose until December 30. 

A rookie player, who is under the age of 22 and has not played in SA20 before, is also to be signed by all teams.

As for the Durban's Super Giants (DSG), they had already announced their six pre-signed players. They are Prenelan Subrayen, Quinton de Kock, Naveen ul Haq, Kyle Mayers, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Reece Topley.

Included in their retentions are Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Keemo Paul, Kyle Abbott, Heinrich Klaasen, Wiaan Mulder, Dilshan Madushanka, Matthew Breetzke and Junior Dala. 

The Super Giants traded Simon Harmer to Sunrisers Eastern Cape and replaced him with Jon-Jon Smuts.

The noteworthy exclusions are Jason Holder, Johnson Charles, Akila Dananjaya, Hardus Viljoen and Christiaan Jonker. 

DSG would now need to fill in three more players in their squad, having the purse of R1.675 million going into the auction, scheduled on September 27. They can bring in only one more overseas player as the limit has been capped to seven per side.

Notably, under the captaincy of De Kock, Durban finished fifth in the SA20 2023 points table.
