The top-order batter Prithvi Shaw is feeling confident in his fitness and form, and striving hard to make a comeback to the Indian team.

Shaw, who is playing for West Zone in the ongoing Duleep Trophy delivered a smashing knock of 121-ball 113 against North-East Zone. In this pursuit, he added 206 runs for the first wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Afterwards, Jaiswal and Ajinkya Rahane slammed a double hundred to help West Zone declare on 590/2. In response, North-East could score only 235.

Shaw last featured for a second-string Indian side against Sri Lanka in July 2021. Since then, he has been dropped from the national squad.

However, the 22-year-old thinks he is back on track and ready to fight for a spot in the Indian team once again.

"This [hundred] is special because it came after a long time," Shaw said.

"Just 12 days before the Duleep Trophy, I started batting just to get back on track with red-ball [cricket]. Otherwise, I was just working on my fitness.

"I'm a guy who is a team man, but what I feel personally is every match is important for me - whatever opportunity comes towards me, I'll try and grab it… I'll just go there, train, work hard and score runs.

Things could've been different in IPL, if I was fit: Prithvi Shaw

Shaw started the IPL 2022 on a bright note, with his terrific opening stand with David Warner, which helped Delhi Capitals to gain momentum in the first half. However, he was diagnosed with typhoid midway, which ruled him out of several games.

"In IPL, I got typhoid. That was the moment I could've played more games and scored runs for my team. Things could've been different. That is one thing that went wrong and obviously after that I was dropped."

The Mumbai batter then returned in the latter half and finished the tournament with 283 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 152.97.
