Disappointing that people questioned my integrity: Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha has been the talk of the town ever since, expressing his displeasure at being dropped from India's Test side. Saha, who had a terrific outing with the Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Gujarat Titans (GT), has now opened up about his future with Bengal Ranji Team and his future in domestic cricket.

Known for his immaculate glove-work, Saha, who willingly opted to sit out of Bengal's upcoming quarterfinals match in the Ranji Trophy against Jharkhand, said that it was hurting for him to see his integrity as a player questioned, something that never happened in his 16-year-old stint with the state side.

"For me, too, it is a very sad feeling that I have to go through something like this after playing for Bengal for so long. It is disappointing that people make such comments and question your integrity.

As a player, I had never faced such a thing in the past, but now that it has happened, even I need to (move on)," Saha told Sportstar.

The wicketkeeper made his intentions known to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) about not playing for them going forward while asking for a NOC earlier this week.

A veteran of 122 First-Class and 102 List A matches for Bengal, Saha clarified, "Since I had made up my mind that I won't play for Bengal, I had informed (the Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya) over the phone. But I will meet him in person and finalise the formalities."

On his future beyond Bengal, the 37-year-old said, "I have spoken to a lot of people, but no decision has been taken yet. There is still time left for next season…."

For the Titans, Saha, who scored 317 runs in 11 games, ended up expressing his happiness.

"I just went to the IPL to contribute to Gujarat Titans and help them win. I am glad that we won the title, but I am not thinking too much about what will happen next or what should have happened. My job was to perform, and I just did that," Saha concluded.
