Team India clinched their third Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in Dubai on March 9, 2025. Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer played significant roles in India's historic victory. While the match saw several high-profile attendees, including ICC Chairman Jay Shah, a mystery surrounding the presence of former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli became a talking point among many on social media. 

Was Vinod Kambli In Dubai For The Final Match? 

Social media was abuzz with speculation after a man resembling Vinod Kambli was spotted near Jay Shah during the final. Many netizens believed that the former cricketer was present at the venue. However, it is important to mention that these claims are false.  

The individual in question was Mahinda Vallipuram, the Associate Member Director of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He is a well-known figure in cricket administration and executive board member of the Asian Cricket Council. 

He has been actively involved in the sport since 2005 and was also seen during India's match against Australia earlier in the tournament.  


Vinod Kambli’s Health Struggles  

Contrary to the rumors, Vinod Kambli was not present at the Champions Trophy final. The former cricketer has been battling serious health issues and was recently admitted to a hospital after his condition deteriorated. However, it is important to note that Kambli has started to recover. 

Kambli has faced significant health challenges over the years. In 2013, he suffered a heart attack, leading to and additionally, he has openly spoken about his struggles with depression and alcohol-related issues, which have further impacted his health.
