Ahead of stepping into the season, the franchise announced Shoaib Akhtar as their mentor. It’s a pre-season move that looks nothing short of a masterstroke.

After the Bangladesh Premier League was introduced, the tournament became the biggest talent hunt for the country as some of the outstanding raw talent stunned the world with their brilliance. Ahead of the season, they announced ace Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar as their mentor. With his vast experience, brilliance, and sharp understanding of the game, Akhtar’s presence is set to significantly uplift the team’s performance.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, the chief executive officer of the Dhaka Capitals, Atik Fahad, opened up about their game-changing move. He said, “We are taking him as a mentor for the Dhaka Capitals for the upcoming edition of BPL. We have chosen him firstly because of his brand value and second to motivate the players.”

What will his role be in the tournament?

Representing Pakistan, the legendary pacer had a stellar career as he secured 444 wickets in his international career across the formats. As he takes on a new challenge, curiosity among fans is at an all-time high. Adding to the excitement, the CEO shared an interesting peek into his responsibilities.

“Before the season starts he will come for a couple of days as we have some endorsements with him and he will leave after finishing those endorsements. Later during the season he will watch some games and give some guidance to the players like the way we brought Saeed Ajmal last year and his role is quite similar to that,” he said.

In a fresh twist to the ongoing developments, the tournament’s Governing Council has made a key announcement, shifting the BPL 2026 auction from November 23 to November 30. In an official statement, they announced the new development.
