In a significant setback for Delhi Capitals, ace speedster Anrich Nortje has flown back to South Africa and will miss tonight's fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Notably, Nortje had to leave for his home due to a personal emergency. It's unclear if he will rejoin the Capitals camp and take part in the remainder of the tournament.

Since joining Delhi Capitals in 2020, Nortje has been their wrecker-in-chief with the ball in the tournament. The 29-year-old has established himself as the leader of the Capitals’ bowling attack, scalping 50 wickets at a strike rate of 17.48 in 38 appearances.

However, he has blown hot and cold in the IPL this season, managing only seven wickets at a mediocre average of 40.71.

Despite being unable to strike for his side at crucial junctures, the Proteas pacer was impressive in the death overs. In his absence, DC might add Mustafizur Rahman or Lungi Ngidi to their playing XI for the game against RCB.

Delhi Capitals have had a forgettable IPL 2023, reeling at the tenth position in the points table. They have managed only three wins in nine outings and will be desperate to register a victory and keep themselves alive in the tournament when they take on RCB tonight.
