Deepak Chahar set to miss England tour; Washington Sundar to play County cricket for Lancashire

Indian limited-overs seamer Deepak Chahar will take another 4-5 weeks before he completely recovers from the quadriceps tear he suffered during the T20I series against the West Indies back in February.

Chahar, who was picked by the Chennai Super Kings for a staggering sum of Rs 14 Crores, missed out on the 15th season of the cash-rich league due to the same injury.

He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is set to miss out on the white-ball leg of the England tour.

"I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit," Chahar was quoted as saying by PTI.

"It's a step by step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don't think I will be fit for England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club level games to check my fitness," Chahar said.

The seam and swing bowler is aiming for a return to the national set-up with the West Indies tour, where India will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is in August.

"So can't say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let's see," he added.

Washington Sundar to play for Lancashire in the County Championship

Meanwhile, spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar, who is also currently at the NCA, will be turning up for English county Lancashire in the upcoming championship.

"Washington is nearing full fitness and he needs a lot of game time, which he will get through red-ball ball cricket. He is ball to play for Lancashire and this exposure will do him a world of good," a BCCI source told PTI.

Washington suffered a hand injury during the 15th season of the IPL, where he represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
