In a significant development, young keeper-batter Abhishek Porel has been handed his maiden IPL cap and is set to debut for Delhi Capitals in their second group-stage fixture against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023. Notably, Porel earlier replaced Rishabh Pant, who has been ruled out of the entire season due to multiple injuries he sustained due to a life-threatening car accident on new year's eve.
Who is Abhishek Porel?
Abhishek Porel is a stylish left-handed batter, who plays for Bengal in the Indian domestic circuit. Being a capable batter, the 20-year-old has 695 runs to his name in 16 First-Class appearances. He made his debut in a Ranji Trophy encounter against Baroda in the 2022 season and has featured in 22 matches since then.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans have won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite winning the first game against the mighty Chennai Super Kings, the Titans have made two changes to their playing XI, replacing Kane Williamson and Vijay Shankar with David Miller and Sai Sudharsan, respectively.
