Sikandar Raza impressed with youngsters' performances

Sikandar Raza believes the youngsters did a great job for Zimbabwe, in the absence of senior players to help them secure victory in the white-ball formats against Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe sealed the T20I series,  and also clinched a first-ever ODI series win against Tigers in the ODIs after 2013. Raza emerged as the best all-around performer for Zimbabwe with 252 runs and five wickets in the 50-over format.

The senior players like Craig Ervine and Sean Williams missed the T20I leg, while Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara could not feature in the whole series.

Zimbabwe trying to bring a winning culture: Raza

Raza put speculations to rest by revealing that the senior players were unavailable due to injuries, and were not rested. He further added that the team is working hard to bring a winning culture.

"From a team perspective, the biggest positive is the amount of youngsters who played in this series," Raza said.

"We are trying to bring a winning culture in the changing room. We have complained about Zimbabwe not playing a lot of games, so now that we are getting games, we didn't think of resting."

Raza praises coach Dave Houghton

The 36-year-old has credited the newly appointed coach Dave Houghton, to instill fearless instinct among the players.

"Dave has brought that fearless cricket with some accountability, and by not being reckless. He pointed out rightly today [loss in 3rd ODI] that we were slightly on the reckless side."

Zimbabwe will face India in a three-match ODI series from 18 to 22 August at Harare Sports Club.
