County Championship Division One 2022: All you need to know

The English County Championship is just a day away, and eighteen sides will lock horns for the most esteemed silverware in the English domestic cricket circuit. The first day of the tournament will see eight sides go up against each other in four games as they look to start their campaign with a win.


Hampshire vs Somerset 

Hampshire will start their campaign against Somerset on the inaugural day of the tournament on the 7th of April at 3:30 PM from the Rose Bowl Stadium at Southampton. In the last five contests between these two teams, none of them has managed to gain a considerable upper hand as the sides have shared two wins each while one game between them ended in a draw.


Northamptonshire vs Gloucestershire 

With four games on the opening day of the tournament, fans will see Northamptonshire tussle against Gloucestershire in the second game from the County Ground at Northampton. Both sides have managed a single win in their last five head to head fixtures, while three games ended without any result. 


Warwickshire vs Surrey

Warwickshire will have a lot on their plate as the defending champions as they look to get a fresh start to the season against Surrey from the Edgbaston, Birmingham. 

Surrey is one of the top contenders to win the title this season and has the upper hand in the last five appearances against their opponents. They have managed to produce three wins compared to a single victory for Surrey. At the same time, one game ended in a draw.


Essex vs Kent 

The night's fourth game will see Essex lock horns against Kent from the County Ground at Chelmsford. In their last five head-to-head clashes, Essex has dominated their opponents, winning four of the five fixtures, while one game ended in no result. It will be interesting to see if Kent can manage to break the deadlock against Essex.
