  • County Championship 2022 Division I Hasan Ali Rattles The Stumps Of Gloucestershire Wicket Keeper James Bracey

County Championship 2022 Division I | Hasan Ali rattles the stumps of Gloucestershire wicket-keeper James Bracey

On the culmination of Day 3 of the fixture between Lancashire and Gloucestershire, the latter is trailing by 237 runs and is in a spot of bother for the final day.

At this moment, The Gloucestershire are 67/3 with Miles Hammond and captain Graeme Van Buuren at the crease. However, the team lost their experienced campaigner on the brink of the final session.

The Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali bowled a searing yorker to rattle the stumps of wicketkeeper James Bracey and celebrated in his own style. The Lancashire official Twitter account posted the video of the same ball and captioned it, “NEW STUMPS, PLEASE!”

Watch the video:

Earlier, Lancashire had declared on a mammoth total of 556 on the board, with a doubleton from Josh Bohannon and a century from captain Dane Vilas. For Gloucestershire, Pakistan all-rounder Zafar Gohar finished with figures of 4/135.

In response, Gloucestershire got off to a great start and consolidated against the likes of James Anderson, Hasan Ali, and Saqib Mahmood. However, Hasan broke their opening stand on a score of 119 by dismissing Chris Dent for 52 off 123 balls.

This wicket certainly opened the floodgates for the batting team, as the other bowlers chipped in with Ali to keep putting the pressure with their proficient line lengths. Ultimately, the Bristol-based side were dismissed for a total of 252. In this pursuit, Hasan picked up a total of six wickets and finished with figures of 6/47 off 17 overs.

Day 4 can prove to be critical for both teams to secure a victory. If the Lancs manage to dismiss the Gloucs, they will make it 2 out of 2 in their 2022 campaign and put up a strong case for the top position in the points table.

On the other hand, the key batters, Hammond and Buuren, will have to put up strong resistance for the visitors in the first two sessions of Day 4 to evade the loss. The team has already featured in 2 matches, with 1 loss and 1 which ended as a draw.

County Championship 2022 Division II | Worcestershire secure a dominating victory over Sussex

Day 3 of the County Championship 2022 fixture between Worcestershire and Sussex ended with the former winning by an innings and 34 runs. The Worcs bowlers were too good for the injury-hit Sussex team, as they ran down the whole batting order within a day. The Sussex team started the day at 169/5 but fell like a pack of cards. It was another chastening performance from the Sussex team with the ball in this fixture, as they conceded 491 runs in the first innings. In their earlier fixtures, teams like Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire amassed 500+ runs as well. Seasoned campaigner Cheteshwar Pujara returned as the best batter for the Sussex team with a century in the first innings. However, his heroics could not avoid the follow-on, as the team stuttered and was dismissed for a score of 269. With the follow-on enforced, none of the Sussex batters could get starts and were dismissed early, barring the opener Alistair Orr who managed to score a fighting 33. In the lower order, Grant Steward remained unbeaten of 67 off 58, comprising three fours and five sixes. Pakistan international Mohammad Rizwan was adjudged LBW with a peach from Ed Barnard. On the other hand, Dillon Pennington breached the defences of the centurion from the 1st innings, Pujara. Sussex's inning was eventually wrapped up for 188 and thus, were handed a defeat by an innings and 34 runs. For Worcestershire, Brett D'Oliveira batted more than seven hours and registered an unbeaten 169, which propelled the team to a strong score, which proved to be enough, with Joe Leach wreaking havoc in both the innings. With this crucial win, Worcs have climbed up to the second position in the points table with 37 points under their belt. On the other hand, Sussex languishes at the bottom of the table with no victories in three games. The Sussex team will face Durham at Hove with a break of only four days, while Worcestershire will be up against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
