Cheteshwar Pujara Shares Cryptic Post After Test Snub For South Africa Tour

Cheteshwar Pujara, who was likely to make his Test return to the Indian team for their forthcoming tour to South Africa in December, has been snubbed by the national selectors yet again. The cricketer played his last Test match back in June against Australia at The Oval.

While Pujara has dropped from Team India’s subsequent tours of West Indies and South Africa, he will feature during the unofficial Tests in South Africa.

Pujara hits gym ahead of a potential national call-up

As Indian Test purist Cheteshwar Pujara, the 35-year-old was spotted hitting the gym, just a day after starring in Saurashtra’s close win over Odisha in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 season.

Pujara, a veteran of 103 Test matches, played the last of those back in June against Australia at The Oval. Regrettably, his dual batting setbacks in the match, compounded by lackluster performances from his teammates, resulted in India’s downfall by a 209-run margin, ultimately conceding the 2021-23 WTC title to Australia.

The Indian Test zealot spent his subsequent time away from the national side by playing County Cricket for Sussex in England, and by helming Saurashtra’s batting line-up in the 2023 Irani Cup as well as in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, India’s Test series against South Africa is scheduled to commence on December 26 in Centurion. The series will conclude with a New Year’s Test match in Cape Town in January, and the fixtures will constitute a part of the ongoing 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
