This afternoon, team India started its preparations for the upcoming second Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Led by Shubman Gill, India would be keen to bounce back in the much-anticipated affair after losing the inaugural encounter at Headingley.

Bumrah Not Spotted; Siraj Works On Batting

Ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah and IPL 2025 purple cap winner Prasidh Krishna were not spotted in India's first net session ahead of the second Test. As reported by Sahil Malhotra from TOI, the fast bowling duo didn't turn up for bowling while most of their teammates underwent rigorous practice.

Several media outlets have already reported that Jasprit Bumrah won't likely feature in the second Test, with the BCCI aiming to managing his workload throughout the series. This could be the reason why Bumrah is one of the major absentees in the practice session.

Meanwhile, the same thing can't be said for Prasidh Krishna, who looked lacklustre with the ball at Headingley. Despite scalping five wickets across both innings, Prasidh was slammed for his line and length after conceding runs at a horrendous economy of 6.29.

Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, fine-tuned his batting, with criticism surrounding the sub-par batting abilities of Indian tail-enders.

Gambhir Caught Having Intense Chat With Arshdeep And Akash Deep

On the other hand, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir's recent actions hinted at some big changes to the playing combination for the second Test. Although the former opener didn't specifically blame anyone, Bumrah's unavailability and the disappointing returns from Krishna and Thakur might force the visitors to tweak their line-up at Edgbaston.

The southpaw was seen having animated conversations with Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep, two frontrunners to replace Bumrah and Krishna in the Indian lineup. While Akash looked impressive before getting injured in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, this will be Arshdeep's maiden Test outing if the left-arm seamer forces his way into the Indian XI.
