In a surprising turn of events, Sunrisers Hyderabad, the champions of the 2016 edition of the IPL have decided to rope in Daniel Vettori as the head coach of the franchise. He replaces Brian Lara who was the head coach of SRH in the 2022 IPL. Vettori has previously been part of the IPL both as a player and as a coach enjoying good amount of success in the lucrative league.

The Kiwi legend captained New Zealand as well and was the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2014 to 2018 which included RCB's dream run to the final in the 2016 edition. He was also involved with Australian team as a spin consultant recently. Vettori is known for his calm and calculated personality and has shown some good leadership skills in the past.

As far as Brain Lara is concerned, he was associated with SRH - the Orange Army for two seasons. He was the batting coach in the 2021 season and was made the head coach of the franchise in the 2022 edition. However, things did not go according to the plan for the Orange Army as they ended up with wooden spoon despite having a good arsenal at their disposal.

One of the problems for SRH in the 2023 edition was the constant chopping and changing in the team. It seems to have led to confusion in the team and since then, there were rumours of franchise looking for a new person in place of Lara.

SRH have been struggling in the IPL since the 2021 season and would be hoping to start afresh under the new head coach, Daniel Vettori now.
