South Africa will once again aim for World Cup glory when they take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 9.
After finishing as runners-up in the previous edition in 2024, the Proteas will be eager to go one step further this time under the leadership of Aiden Markram.
SA's strong T20 World Cup 2026 squad
On Friday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially announced a 15-member squad for the marquee event. It is important to mention that Aiden Markram has been named captain once again.
The star players who have been selected for the T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time are Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje.
Rabada will lead the pace attack after recently returning to competitive cricket following a rib injury. He will be supported by Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Corbin Bosch, and young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka.
The biggest surprises in the squad announcement were the exclusions of Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton. Both players have shown strong form in recent seasons, but the selectors opted for Jason Smith and Tony de Zorzi instead.
