BPL 2022: Fortune Barishal ride on Gayle's knock, Rana's four-fer to notch up win vs Khulna Tigers

Fortune Barishal defeated Khulna Tigers by 17 runs after defending a target of 142 in Chattogram. The Tigers didn't really have a great start to the chase and lost wickets at regular intervals to get reduced to 40/4 in the 8th over to eventually left tottering at 114/7 before getting bowled out. 

None of the batters, barring Mushfiqur Rahim got among runs. Rahim struck 40 off 36 but his efforts weren't really enough to take the side home. 

Mujeeb Ur Rahman scalped a couple of wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs while Mehedi Hasan Rana was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a four-wicket haul at the cost of just 17 runs in 3 overs. 

Earlier, in the day, the Fortune Barishal side too faced some struggle with the bat as they lost wickets regularly but managed to put 141/9 in 20 overs on the board. Gayle top-scored for the side with 45 off 34. 

Barishal captain Shakib later lauded the bowling unit for their performance. 

"At the toss I said we got a very bowling line-up. If we get a decent total, we can defend. But we wanted around 160. He (Mujeeb) missed the first few games, but he is now fully available. We just need to stick to our basics. Both the fast bowlers bowled brilliantly. Not an easy wicket for the, but their execution was very good," he said after the match.
