BPL 2022: Chattogram Challengers' Mrittunjoy Chowdhury claims hattrick against Sylhet Sunrisers

Chattogram Challengers' Mrittunjoy Chowdhury claimed a hattrick against Sylhet Sunrisers during the BPL 2022 fixture in Chattogram.

Bowling the 18th over of the innings, Chowdhury first removed a well-set Anamul Haque who was caught by Nasum Ahmed for 78 off 47.

He then followed it with the scalp of Sunrisers' captain Mosaddek Hossain who was caught by Afif Hossain for a golden duck and then sent Ravi Bopara packing 16 off 12.

He eventually returned with figures of 3/33 in 4 overs for his side as the Challengers successfully defended a target of 203 runs to win the match by 16 runs.

Anamul and Colin Ingram scored individual fifties for Sylhet.

Earlier, the Challengers rode on some exceptional batting display to post 202/5 in 20 overs on the board. Will Jacks scored a 19-ball 52 for the side during the course.

Chattogram Challengers defeated Syhlhet Sunrisers by 16 runs in the BPL 2022 fixture in Chattogram. Chasing a mammoth target of 203 runs in 20 overs, the Sunrisers side was restricted to 186/6 in the allotted 20 overs. After losing Lendl Simmons early, the Sylhet team got the much-needed resistance as Anamul Haque and Colin Ingram chipped in with a stand of 112 runs for the second wicket. Both the batters scored individual fifties during the course. But no other batsmen really got into the groove and the side eventually fall short. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury picked up three wickets for his side for 33 runs in 4 overs while Nasum Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers after he took two wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs. Earlier, Will Jacks played a blinder of an innings for Chattogram as he struck a 19-ball 52 which included three maximums and 7 fours. Apart from him Afif Huossain (38 off 28) and Sabbir (31 off 29) also made valuable contributions but it was Howell and Mehidy Hasan's cameos that helped the side post 202/5. While Howell remained unbeaten at 41 off 21, Hasan struck 13* off 4. Ravi Bopara returned with an economical bowling performance for his side as he picked up one wicket at the cost of 23 runs in 4 overs.

PSL 2022: Multan Sultans steal win against Lahore Qalandars on a batsmen's day out

Multan Sultans etched a 5-wicket win against Lahore Qalandars in a high-scoring encounter in Karachi. Chasing 207 in 20 overs, the Multan side completed the win on the fourth delivery of the final over. Needing 16 in the 20th over, Khushdil Shah struck three fours on the first three deliveries on the trot and then smashed a maximum to take the team over the line. Sultans had a brilliant start to the chase after captain Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood stitched a 150-run stand for the first wicket with both the players notching up individual fifties during the course. But the side then lost a few wickets and were 191/5 at the end of the 19th over when Shah unleashed a masterclass with the bat. Shaheen Afridi scalped three wickets for Lahore but at the cost of 40 runs in four overs while Rauf had a horrific outing as he leaked 46 runs in just 3.4 overs and picked up one wicket. Earlier, Lahore's opener Fakhar Zaman was on song as he struck a 35-ball 76 including a couple of maximums and 11 fours. Apart from him, Kamran Ghulam was among the runs as he scored 43 off 31 while Wiese and Rashid Khan too chipped in with some runs. Wiese remained unbeaten at 13 off 5. On the other side, Rashid too added runs in an aggressive manner as he scored 17* off 4. David Willey was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 1/23 in 3 overs. This was Sultans second win on the trot in the competition.

Multan Sultans were off to a flying start to the 207-run chase against Lahore Qalandars after openers Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood had put up a stand of more than 100 runs for the first wicket. Both the batters notched up individual fifties during the course. Earlier, Lahore had posted 206/5 in 20 overs on the board after Fakhar Zaman unveiled some brilliance with the bat as the left-handed opener scored a 35-ball 76 which included two maximums and 11 fours. Apart from him, Kamran Ghulam also chipped in with a brisk 43 off 31 while David Wiese remained unbeaten at 13 off 5 and Rashid Khan scored 17* off 4. David Willey was the pick of the bowlers for his side after he returned with figures of 1/23 in three overs.
