Birmingham Phoenix have signed Tanveer Sangha as a replacement for Imran Tahir, who will leave for the CPL 2022 after their game on August 28.

It was announced earlier by the Birmingham-based team that Sangha will replace Imran Tahir in the latter stages of the competition and will be available for selection from August 29.

Tahir will be flying to the Caribbean to take part in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League starting September 1. He will be featuring for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in this year's CPL.

The 43-year-old veteran will play his last game for the Phoenix against Northern Superchargers on Sunday (August 28).

The evergreen South African leg-spinner entertained the spectators at Edgbaston last year with 10 wickets, including a hat-trick against Welsh Fire, and an economy rate of 140 runs conceded per 100 balls. But he struggled to replicate last year's success this time around.

Tahir has picked up just two wickets while giving away 154 runs per 100 balls.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Australian leggie has 37 wickets in 27 T20 outings at an economy rate of a little over 7.5 runs per over heading into The Hundred 2022.

The Moeen Ali-led Birmingham Phoenix sits fifth on the points table, with two wins and three defeats from their first five outings.
