Cricket in Bihar is on the cusp of a historic transformation with the near-completion of the state-of-the-art Rajgir International Cricket Stadium. The Building Construction Department has announced that the pavilion and grounds are now ready for training and practice matches, marking a significant leap in infrastructure for a region long starved of elite sporting venues.

With a massive capacity of 45,000 spectators and built to full BCCI international standards, this sprawling facility promises to put Bihar firmly on the nation's cricketing map.

Rajgir Stadium built over 18 acres of land with modern facilities

Spread across 18 acres, the complex features a five-storey pavilion with dedicated zones for players, officials, media, and VIPs, representing a long-awaited dawn for cricket in the state.

The development of the Rajgir stadium was a meticulously planned project, with engineers studying designs from major venues across India and abroad to create a world-class facility. This research has culminated in a stadium that is poised to become a new landmark for the state of Bihar.

“With this project, Bihar will soon establish a new identity on India’s sports map,” the Secretary of the Building Construction Department said, adding that the facility represents a “long-awaited leap forward” for the state’s cricket ecosystem.

World-class amenities and pitches for the future

The stadium is equipped with modern amenities, including a gymnasium, spa, physio room, and a full medical centre. For the match-day experience, it boasts commentary boxes, camera decks, and corporate suites. The core of the venue, the playing arena, has been prepared under the watchful eye of the BCCI’s Chief Curator.

The venue features an impressive 13 playing surfaces, with seven made from Mokama’s black soil for better bounce and six from Maharashtra’s red soil to assist spin. A grassed outfield coupled with a modern drainage system ensures the venue can host matches promptly after rain.
