Ben Stokes Waiting For Scan Results Before Making Future Commitments

The England Test vice-captain Ben Stokes is currently waiting for the results of the scans on a knee problem he faced during their tour of the West Indies last month before making any plans or commitments.

Notably, the England all-rounder struggled with knee issues during England's tour of the West Indies last month. Stokes was expected to participate in the 2022 County Championship, which will commence on April 7. However, he will now wait for a clearer picture regarding his knee issues before striding forward with the domestic season.

"(With) my knee problems out in the Caribbean, I am getting all the scans … so I literally can't make any plans until we see what is happening there," Stokes said on the Round the Wicket podcast Tuesday.

"At the moment, no training until I get these scans, then we find out what is going on, then hopefully we can make a plan from there on," the England all-rounder added.

England is having a tough time in red-ball cricket as they have managed to win one of their last 17 tests. They recently suffered a 0-1 defeat in the West Indies Test series. Before that, Joe Root's men had lost in India, at home to New Zealand, 0-4 thrashing down under and were 2-1* down against India in the home series before it was postponed due to Covid.

Meanwhile, Stokes feels that the team has been progressing but "playing the situation overplaying the man" has let them down several times.

"(We need to) break it down a lot simpler and just go 'right, it's me against you rather than me against the whole situation of this whole game," he added.

Following their domestic season, England will host New Zealand in a three-Test series in June to start their home summer schedule.
