Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has been fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after his team maintained a slow over-rate during IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Monday. The match, saw RCB winning the clash by 12-runs.
Slow Over-Rate Leads To Fine For Patidar
RCB’s slow over-rate during the match did not go unnoticed, with the BCCI stepping in to impose a fine on Rajat Patidar.The RCB captain has been fined with INR 12 lakhs. It is important to mention that this was RCB's first slow-over-rate offence of IPL 2025.

"As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined INR 12 lakhs," read the IPL media release.
RCB's Victory In A Last-Over Thriller
RCB made an impressive return to form with their third win in the ongoing season. The victory against Mumbai Indians came in dramatic fashion, with RCB posting a daunting total of 221/5 in 20 overs. The batting line-up was led by captain Rajat Patidar, who contributed a stellar 64 runs, alongside the in-form Virat Kohli, who scored a vital 67 runs.
Despite a strong total, MI fought back fiercely in their chase. The match swung back and forth with MI’s Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya launching a late assault to bring their team close to the target. However, crucial wickets at the death overs, including three wickets in the final over by Krunal Pandya sealed the victory for RCB.
