In a significant turn of events, BCCI President Roger Binny is all set to travel Pakistan to watch Asia Cup 2023. According to the reports, the BCCI President will be accompanied by Rajiv Shukla, the current vice-president of the richest cricket board in the world. The news is huge considering the current political situation between India and Pakistan and this could be a start of something fruitful, at least from the cricketing point of view.
Roger Binny and Rajiv Shukla will travel as BCCI representative for official PCB dinner at Lahore. They will most likely attend the September 3 or September 5 game at Lahore during their 2-day visit after India-Pakistan game on September 2. The Asia Cup will be played in a hybrid model with few matches in Pakistan and rest of the games in Sri Lanka.
The schedule was finalised for Asia Cup after lot of discussions and debates regarding the venues as India was not ready to travel to Pakistan. The hybrid model was decided eventually, and after lot of deliberations, Pakistan and India seem to be on the same table with some sort of truce between the two neighbours.
There is lot of buzz around the Asia Cup with the possibility of India and Pakistan facing each other three times in the continental cup. India will kickstart their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele. The Asia Cup will then be followed by 50-over World Cup where India and Pakistan will take on each other at Ahmedabad on October 14.
