In the latest development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed its central contract list on Monday with several surprise inclusions this year. However, as expected, the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are retained in A+ category, alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.
Surprisingly, the BCCI has given a central contract to Ishan Kishan as well and the southpaw comes under the C category. Kishan was dropped from the central contract list last year for disciplinary reasons.
Prior to his exclusion from the central contract list last year, Kishan was a regular in the Indian team, but he left the tour of South Africa mid-way, citing personal reasons and since then he has been out of the side.
Shreyas Iyer is back
Not only Kishan, but Shreyas Iyer also makes his entry and earns the contract in B category alongside SKY, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Axar Patel.
He was instrumental in India's success in the Champions Trophy 2025 and played some crucial knocks in securing India's third title. As a result of his performance, Iyer was given the contract after last year's exclusion, just like Kishan.
Why RO-KO in A+ category?
Interestingly, Rohit and Kohli both were included in A+ category alongside Bumrah, but that category is for the players who play all three formats. Meanwhile, Rohit and Kohli both retired from T20Is last year, but due to their services towards Team India, and they are accorded the respect they deserve.
What are the contract categories and salaries?
Grade A+ – Rs 7 crore
Grade A – Rs 5 crore
