BCB grants Shakib NOC to play CPL

Bangladesh's star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has been granted a No objection certificate (NOC) by the BCB to feature in the forthcoming season of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The development was confirmed by BCB's operations chairman Jalal Yunus, who said, "We have granted the NOC to Shakib as the cricketer is set to take part in the upcoming edition of the CPL."

He also mentioned that the upcoming Zimbabwe tour scheduled to take place between July 30 and August 10 would be skipped by Shakib as he has asked for a break during that period. The Zimbabwe tour will comprise 3 T20s and an equivalent number of ODIs.

Considering his busy schedule, Shakib has opted to sit out of the tour, to which the operations chairman said, "Apart from Shakib, no other players have asked for a break from the upcoming Zimbabwe tour, which means we are expected to send a full-strength side for the series."

Guyana Amazon Warriors' head coach Rayon Griffith while addressing the Shakib signing, said, "I would not hide this one- Shamzi will be leaving at some point in the tournament, and Shakib Al Hasan, another spinner, will join us, and he brings batting, which will make the team stronger."

Shakib has previously turned up for Barbadian and Jamaican franchises in the Caribbean's premier T20 competition. The 2022 edition of CPL is set to commence on August 31 and will conclude on September 30.
