  • Bavuma Ruled Out Rilee Rossouw Makes T20i Return As Csa Announces Squads For England Series

Bavuma ruled out, Rilee Rossouw makes T20I return as CSA announces squads for England series

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has released three separate squads ahead of the team's much-anticipated series against England across formats in their upcoming UK tour.

During this long tour, which will take place from 19th July to 12th September, the Proteas are scheduled to play three ODIs, T20Is and Tests against England, as well as two T20Is against Ireland in Bristol. However, the squads have been announced only for the England series.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events, South Africa's white-ball captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the entire tour owing to an elbow injury that he sustained during the recently concluded T20I series against India. In the absence of Bavuma, David Miller and Keshav Maharaj have been named as the stand-in captains in T20Is and ODIs, respectively.

The return of Rilee Rossouw into the national setup is another major highlight of this announcement. Rossouw, who has represented South Africa in 51 international matches, has finally made his comeback into the Proteas' T20I squad after six long years.

Among other notable events, the young seamer Gerald Coetzee has received his maiden T20I call-up, whereas the experienced Kagiso Rabada has been excluded from the ODI squad as a part of his workload management.

CSA convenor of selectors, Mr Victor Mpitsang has wished luck to the entire think tank for the success of this long tour. Mpitsang stressed that the white ball series hold significant importance for the proteas as they gear up for the respective World Cups.

He also revealed that the major objective behind selecting the squads was to try out different options ahead of the mega-events, keeping their core group intact.
